Candle in a jar

Today we did an experiment with a candle, jar, maches and food coloring   This is the  Slide

Instructions

  1. put water in a bowl, make sure the water does not cover the candle
  2. put the candle inside
  3. light candle
  4. put jar on top
  5. and wait
  6. pull the jar off carefully (it is stuck to the bottom)

Results

you can see the gas going up the jar, the candle blew out.
I found it cool to do this.

conclusion-

The reason this happened was because the oxygen was trapped in the jar so the flame blew out because of to much pressure.

P.E – Traditional Games

In p.e we are doing things around different kind of traditional games. There are 3 that we played, they are called Tī Uru, Tapuwae and Kī o Rahi. The game I found the best is Ki O Rahi because you get to run around alot and I find it the best game to play out of all of them

Ti Uru: Attack: Pass the ti or kī to one of your players standing on a mat to score points. Player standing on mat must catch and control the ti ki or poi on the full with an open hand. Defense: Stop the other team from scoring points by intercepting a passed ti or kī. This is a Video on a little bit of information on how to play Ti Uru.When I was playing this game I like to run so I to run and try get the ball off the other team.

Kī o Rahi: The rules around Kī o Rahi is that Games are 5 minute quarters with an immediate change at quarter time and a 2 minute break at half time. The sport is non-contact but players wear a belt holding two  tags around their waist. Shirts must be tucked in at all times. No watches or other jewellery are allowed to be worn during play. You also have to get 25 points to win this game its the first team to get to 25 points win. Each team gets to move so they all get a turn and Defense and Attacking. This is a layout of how you play Ki o Rahi. I like playing the Attacking side of things in Ki O Rahi because you get to run and get to have fun and rip the other teams tags off them.

Tapuwae: I wasnt there for this game but this is what I found out how to play it and the rules around this game. Start the games by throwing the Kī into Te Ao the middle zone this is done after each tupu hit. If a team losses possession out of bounds over the sides then they hand over the Kī to the opposition. If it goes out over the back, the defensive teams kaitiaki. This is a layout of the game that I found that might help you. I wasn’t here when my class played this game so I dont really know how to play this game or don´t doing anything to do with this game.

Ki o Rahi – Taonga Tākaro (Traditional Māori Game)

Ki o Rahi – Taonga Tākaro (Traditional Māori Game)

A large team game played between 2 teams, kioma and taniwha on a large circular field. Played for 4 quarters or 2 halves of a set time, teams alternate roles of Kīoma and Taniwha at half or quarter time.

Kīoma score by touching Pou/s with the Kī (for potential points) then running the Kī through Te Roto and placing it down in Pawero to convert pou touches into points. Kīoma stop the other team, Taniwha.

Taniwha score by hitting the Tupu with the Kī. Kīoma will have Kaitiaki (guardians) around the Tupu to stop Taniwha from hitting the Tupu. Depending on which variation is being played, Taniwha must stop Kīoma from scoring by either touching, 2 handed touch, ripping the tag or tackling them in the appropriate area.

6-10 cones to be the Tupu

6-10 Tennis balls to put on top of the Tupu/cones

Kī/ball or just a normal netball/soccer/foam ball

Netball/Basketball court or Field marking paint

Bibs or Rippah tags to identify teams.

Health – rubber band cup

Today in Health class we did a challenge with a rubber band a cup and a peace of string

We had to carry the cups from one table to another. There was 5 cups 5 peaces of string and 1 rubber band

I used my Ip skills today theses are the ones that I used verbal communication,Active listing,Comprise/Negation,Manakitanga/Inclusiveness

I used my warm fuzzes with saying good job when they go a cup to the other side

I Worked with caleb, kaydence, faysal and lucain We worked good but the only bad thing was when I could not tie the not on the cup

If we had to do it again I would probably try to get more across faster then we did

I was at level 2 in hellions behavior model Because I helped set up the equipment and I was participating in the activity.
